BEYCHELLA: Beyonce Teaches a Masterclass in Shutting Coachella Down

By: Sang Kromah

If you weren’t one of the privileged who had the opportunity to witness history live at Coachella last night, you were like me and millions of others, who waited to stream Beyonce’s legendary performance at the highly anticipated, desert music festival that happens to be equal parts a fashion festival and guaranteed celebrity sighting fest as well.

“Coachella thank you for letting me be the first black woman to headline Coachella. Ain’t that about a bitch?” Those were Beyonce’s words as she graced the stage in what has to be the most epic performance the festival has ever seen. And Coachella has had many, so that’s saying something.

It’s funny that with all the strides black women have made in music, the trends they’ve set, and the phenomenal talent they possess that in 2018, a festival as major as Coachella has only had one female headliner?!

Even though Beyonce always comes correct, there’s no other way to describe what she did other than, Black Girl Magic. And to bring her point home, she sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing”, which is the Black National Anthem. And Destiny’s Child reunited last night, so like I said, BLACK GIRL MAGIC.

Anyway, I’m going to stop raving and let you watch the entire performance and how she schooled Coachella.
